Like the living Catarrhine's, Saadanius had a bony ear tube and teeth, but Saadanius had a longer face than living Catarrhine's face and lacked the advanced frontal sinus that was found in living Catarrhines.

1. Catarrhine's, Saadanius had a bony ear tube and teeth, but Saadanius had a longer face than living Catarrhine's face --> "like X,Y": X & Y should be similar noun
3. Catarrhine's ear was bony, Saadanius had a bony ear tube and teeth, but Saadanius had a longer face than living Catarrhine's face was --> "like" can't be used before a clause
4. Catarrhine's, Saadanius had a bony ear tube and teeth, but Saadanius's face was longer than living Catarrhine's face --> same as A
5. Catarrhines, Saadanius's had a bony ear tube and teeth, but Saadanius had a longer face than living Catarrhines --> same as A

4. Catarrhine's, Saadanius had a bony ear tube and teeth, but Saadanius's face was longer than living Catarrhine's face

1. Incorrect, because comparison were done between Catarrhine's and Saadanius, which is not logical. Same comparison with Saadanius and Catarrhine's face
2. Correct, both of error from option 1 has been corrected
3. Incorrect, because Like is followed by a clause
4. Incorrect, same error as that of option 1
5. Incorrect, comparison between Catarrhines and Saadanius's is not logical

Imo B

This question tests comparison and ellipses.

The problem with the original sentence is that it compares an adjective with a proper noun. We can compare noun with noun and clause with clause.
With this split we drop A, C, D, and E
We are left with B.

Note on B "but Saadanius had a longer face than living Catarrhines had " this is the full version of the sentence without omitting verb. We are comparing clause with clause.
