I know that after one finishes all 6 CAT tests, MGMAT lets your reset the CAT tests so that the tests can be taken again.

Thing is first 3 tests that I gave were virtually useless as I took them a while ago just for fun and at that time I was not serious at all, moreover I didn't even finish those tests. Only test number 4 onwards are real for me. So once I am done with all 6 (2 left - giving 5th tomorrow), I want to reset ONLY tests 1-3 as I want to keep the last 3 for review. Is that allowed? Or I can ONLY reset ALL or NONE?

Please help as this will help me plan when should I take the last test.

Abhi,

nopes the questions on all 6 Manhattan cats come from same pool of about 1200 questions. A question from cat 2 for me can come on cat 6 for you. So different cats do not have different question banks to fetch questions from. How many repeats you will get after 6 tests when you reset depends upon how you were scoring on all the 6 cats. If you score high on all 6 cats, you may be seeing many repeats after resetting, but if you were not scoring very high, you will see many new questions.

Thanks AJ. You made a very good point, I didn't think about that. Since I had low scores in 1st 3, I am guessing after resetting I should get more new questions.

Anyhow, the main question I had was - When I reset my CAT tests, does it reset ONE at a time or does it reset ALL CATs at the same time, release the questions from ALL the tests into the available pool of question? In other words, does MGMAT give you option to reset ONLY ONE test (say I want to reset only the 1st test), in which case does it only release the questions from 1st tests into the available pool of questions?

Did you understand my dilemma? I don't want to reset my test 4 and 5, as I would like to hold on to those questions.

Hey,

When you reset your CATs, you reset all 6 at the same time. In other words, there isn't a way to reset individual tests.

However, don't worry about losing your recent Assessment Reports--you'll be able to review all of your past CATs, even if they have been reset.

Thanks Matt for your response. I called MGMAT customer service the other day. The agent, whom I talked to, told me that it is possible to reset ONLY the first 3 tests if that's what I want. And suggested me to call back when I done with 6 tests. I confirmed with her that only the questions from the first 3 tests will be released. Thing is I don't care about the 1st 3 tests as I don't remember anything about them (gave them 8-9 months ago just for curiosity with NO prep) but since I got serious I have reviewed the 4th and 5th tests thoroughly, and am planning to do the same for the 6th. So I would not like the questions from 4-6 tests to be released into the pool of questions.

Anyways, maybe she did not understand me or perhaps she didn't know. Could you please confirm? Appreciate your help!

Hey,

After looking into it further, the information you received over the phone is correct. We can in fact reset individual tests. So if you'd like to release questions from your earlier tests back into the question bank, that won't be a problem. Please call Student Services when you're ready.
