If its too little to persuade you then you really don't have anything to lose by asking for more. If you actually want to go that school even without additional aid then yes, there's probably some risk involved.

I doubt you will see more from them, but I suppose if you know you never want to go there (ever!) it could be worth trying. I mean, if it goes wrong, it will be a pretty embarassing Oliver situation, won't it.

I'd put it the "I'd be happy to study at your school, but have financial constraints that force me to blahblahblah" way and go for it - given that you really won't go if the amount doesn't increase.

I agree with this approach. Also, I don't think there is too much risk involved even if you really DO want to attend despite the "financial constraints".

Just a quick hint for curiouss. While this issue may be resolved/outdated for you, the thread may still be useful for other forum members - especially as there is some constructive response. A good approach would be to not remove the question, but just to add "Update: issue resolved" at the end of your first post.
