On my first attempt on the GMAT I scored a miserable 330 (Q 14, V 18). I was upset because I spent a reasonable time using the Manhattan study pack and some OG 12 questions for both verbal and Quant. I noticed for the most part that I didn't fully grasp a lot of the quant topics tested like (Algebra Translation, Combinations, Probability, Overlapping Sets and Vic's). Also, in terms of the verbal section, I believe, I was a victim of just trying to "sound-out" the sentence and choose the one that sounded best. I found out after that was a big mistake. In terms of my preparation I want to know what I can do to improve my score in 31 days. I have been studying for about 5 hours a day so far. But I believe I'm lacking the right strategy to improve my score greatly. My goal is to score 600+ in those 31 days.

I want to know if I need any new material for my Gmat prep. Currently using MGMAT 8 strategy guides, OG 12, Verbal 2nd edition and Quant 2nd edition. I read that the CR bible guide might be useful after reading other stories on here.

Please provide me with any feedback that can help me achieve my goals. Thank you everyone! :-D

Hate to burst your bubble and take away your hopes, but there is no way you can score 600+ in 31 days.

If you have scored 330 with that breakdown, that means you're seriously lacking fundamental skills that are absolute must to conquer GMAT. How long have you prepared for your first attempt? Have you taken GMAT Prep tests and CATs to properly gauge where you're at? My guess is you did not.

GMAT studying is not about quantity - it doesn't matter whether you spend 8 hours a day looking at books and studying everyday. If you don't understand the core concept you're not going to get it - plain and simple.

I hope that you didn't book your second test yet. Go and purchase MGMAT 8 books as they'll really help you grasp on fundamentals and skills you need. GMAT Club has enormous resources that you can utilize and has quality prep questions and tips all over. I'd suggest you to go through them all before you do any questions on OG or other materials.

Meaninglessly finishing quiz banks and questions on OG and other materials are USELESS.

Again, I'd strongly suggest you to reconsider taking the GMAT in a month. Be calm, make thoughtful study plans, set realistic goal and aim 2-3 months to prep your test. Good luck.

I have already bought Manhattan's 8 books. In terms of the Cat Exams I have taken a MGMAt CAT Exam 1 and scored 410. In terms of my fundamentals what books will help me best?

If your score is 330 - it might be on par with randomly guessing the answers - which yields you 20% accuracy. I'd encourage you to look into getting a tutor. With books, you can go through them but it's going to be difficult to get the fundamentals down.

First, reschedule your test. Your going to need a good three to four months. Right now I wouldn't even look at a question for a good month or two at least. You need to get the fundamentals down cold. I would get the math and verbal fundamentals books from manhattan gmat- you need these. After you do those intensely, and really understand everything in there, then go to the 8 manhattan gmat study guides. After you complete these guides and you do know them cold, then come back here. You could do every problem in the OG, if your fundamentals aren't great, it won't make a difference.

You will definitely need more than 31 days.......i kindda agree with goodbyeboy ........
