Hi everyone, I'm really having a hard time in determining my chances with these universities for their MSc in Management programs. My aim is to work in a large management consulting firm one day and this MSc would be my stepping stone.
Here are my stats:
School: McGill University (top in Canada)
Program: Joint Honours Economics & Finance (one of the hardest programs at McGill but admissions people aren't likely to know that obviously)
GPA: 3.22 (however this was due to switching from spending 2 terrible years in English Lit before switching programs. Improved greatly in my final 2 years in Econ and Finance, final year GPA was 3.55)
GREs: Q 167 (97th percentile) / V 158 (80th percentile)
Work experience: 2 summer internships in private equity and management consulting, both in small boutique firms. 1 summer spent doing academic research with Hong Kong University on finance
Extracurriculars: On the events committee for Women in Capital Markets, and Creative Director for Jr. Hong Kong Canada Business Association, both are professional organization across Canada. Volunteer work for YWCA and Alternatives (Climate Change projects)
References: Planning to have 1 from my boss at my management consulting internship and another from a professor who has taught me 2 courses covering leadership ability, presentation skills, research analytical abilities.
What I'm worried about is being cut off immediately because of my GPA, despite the "story" behind it. If I'm not a likely candidate for HEC, ESADE, IE, Imperial or Kings, what schools should I be aiming for?
Many thanks
