ISB Application 2015-16 Doubts and Discussions

Hello Everyone, I couldn't find too many discussions going on for ISB applications and more importantly for the So, adding this discussion to discuss any doubt we have regarding the Application process , Essays , Interviews.
I would also encourage people to share any relevant information regarding the application process.
Here is my first doubt: : : I work in IT field and have been involved in some very interesting projects , but when i am trying to put the name of the Projects in the application essays - the project names sound like big Tech jargons such as Virtualization and Application Provisioning.
So, should i refrain from using such big tech words in essay ? If not , then do the interview panel do any research on the projects before our interview so that there could be a healthy discussion about it.
I don't want some Google or Microsoft guy to get all the attention in the Interviews because the name of their products are very popular and Adcom tends to know something about them.

Prashant,
Putting in names of technical projects in your ISB application is not a great idea. As an IT applicant, you should not be focusing on your projects but on the value that you added. Also, you are judged on your application by your contributions and efforts, not by the popularity of the technologies you have worked on.

Thanks a lot GyanOne,
Really helpful and crisp reply... \m/ \m/
Another doubt i have is , for certain achivements that i am planning to mention in my Essays such as some dance performances and work with NGOs , i don't have any written proof.
So, is that a good advice to put such achievements in the essay ?? I mean are the Colleges very concerned about the Proofs for everything you mention in the Application..???

Hi Prashant,
You don't need certificates for everything that you mention, but you should mention only those things that you have actually participated and done well on. For instance, dance performances and NGO work per se seems fine, but unless this was done at a sufficient level, it might not get you the credit that it deserves. ISB is within its rights to ask you for certificates for activities and achievements that you mention as part of the online application.
In the Employer Details section of the application, ISB asks about "Employer Activity" with an answer limit of 100 chars. Are we supposed to mention what the company actually does? It'd be great if anyone could give a few examples for this section.
For Example: Employer: Infosys Employer Activity: ??
Employer: Myntra Employer Activity: ??
[I haven't written the obvious "IT Services" and "Ecommerce" as Employer Activity because this information is already being captured elsewhere in the form under "Industry"]

Hi Vandana,
Yes, this blank is meant to be filled-in with a description of the company's actual activities. Example: Infosys: Global technology company providing software development, business process management, and business consulting services.
You need to go beyond the standard description of 'IT services' in this blank, noting the other areas the firm is active in too. Similarly, for Myntra, you can go beyond saying that this is just an e-commerce firm in this section. You can mention that Myntra is an online retailer focusing on fashion and lifestyle products.
Hope this is helpful. Feel free to come back with further questions on this.

I have got a question: i have been working in a tech Firm in Software developer role for past four years. After my MBA i am looking forward to join some tech consulting Firm.
So, is this advisable to Put "Tech Consulting" specifically as a career goal (at least short ).
Asking this because most of the MBAs are General MBAs, so do Adcoms prefer people who are with such a narrow approach , as in looking forward to Tech consulting , which might be easily achieved by 8-9 months of technical interview preparations and applying in Tech Consulting firms.
Hi all! I have graduated from a reputed engineering college in India and applying to ISB this year, our medium of instruction was English? Should I submit any acknowledgement from our college regarding the same to ISB?
Also, after we get an interview call, should we upload our transcripts or will marksheets suffice?
Hi Neeha, == I have graduated from a reputed engineering college in India and applying to ISB this year, our medium of instruction was English? Should I submit any acknowledgement from our college regarding the same to ISB? == ==>> I doubt you need anything like that for ISB, rest you can always refer to ISB's admissions website..these requirements are very clearly mentioned there.
== Also, after we get an interview call, should we upload our transcripts or will marksheets suffice? == ==>> Transcripts are required only once you have got an admit...so for interviews only the Marksheets and other docs like Degree would suffice.
