Re: Part time program class of 2018 ( starting fall 15) [#permalink]
Dblxp -I haven't heard anything, but I only submitted my application on June 20th. Did you select Westchester as an option? My understanding from talking to the admissions officers is that they will send qualified applicants up to Westchester if the Manhattan programs fill. I work in Westchester and live in Manhattan, so I am fine attending either program. As of this year, there's a lot more $$ available at Westchester, too.

Also, you posted the percentile ranks for your V and Q, right? What were your raw scores?

Interesting point regarding the Westchester program. I put it as my 3rd choice as I want to have access the the emt concentration but if I need to attend Westchester to get in I would have no problem making the commute! I believe the admissions requirements are the same at both programs.

Regarding my raw scores:

V: 46
Q: 35

I hope to have an update for you soon!

Re: Part time program class of 2018 ( starting fall 15) [#permalink]
OK, definitely let me know if you do end up in Westchester. The train times don't line up perfectly with the class times (there's a 9:09 and a 10:09, and it takes about 12 minutes to get from Suny Purchase to the train station). So unless I can find people to carpool with, I'll probably ask the professor if I can leave class 10 min early. Since the class is 3 hours long, it wouldn't shock me if it ends 10-15 minutes early anyway.

As an update, I just got invited to interview. As far as I could see, the remaining interviews are on July 27th and 28th.

I applied 7/4. Received link on 7/7.

No updates on status check. Don't know if that means they received everything or not.

The link normally shows a list of missing documents. It was only the official transcripts in my case, because everything else I had submitted online with the application. If you have already sent your supporting documents in the mail, they normally update the link in about 10 business days.

Please keep us informed if you hear back anything....will do the same

Good luck!

Re: Part time program class of 2018 ( starting fall 15) [#permalink]
I applied on 06/20 and got asked for an interview on 7/15. My interview is on Monday. You do not need to interview to be accepted. Most people are accepted without interviewing, although I've heard they're trying to interview more people and they make be more likely to interview people who apply later. I'm not sure. I've researched the forum about this, and no one seems to know why they interview certain people and not others. The only takeaway was that *some* had untraditional backgrounds.

Also based on forum posts, it seems that most people who interview do get in, although some have been wait listed. Obviously forum posters don't make up the entire applicant pool, though... Most people who said that had interviews did respond with their results.

Good luck!

yeah, there's no set criteria on who gets an interview call. Good luck with your interview next week. We are all rooting for you and hopefully all of us will meet on the other side.

Re: Part time program class of 2018 ( starting fall 15) [#permalink]
Hi all,

Anyone else have an update?

My interview was about 25 minutes. As others have reported, most of the questions were pretty standard. I do think my interviewer wanted to know more about what I do and why I made a career change. I have about nine years of work experience, but the first four were spent in a different industry. Also, my job/industry is pretty unique, and I think they wanted some more information. No mention was made about my academic background, which is pretty good, but pretty lean on quant.

I never can assess how these things go, so I won't comment on whether I think it went well or not. I don't think it was a super "hard" interview, but I don't think the admissions reps were trying to be difficult.

Re: Part time program class of 2018 ( starting fall 15) [#permalink]
congrats topmuffin! do you mind sharing how many students are currently enrolled. I believe you can see that under student login once admitted..

wolsasmom - What's your current and past industry? Ideally PT MBA is for candidates who are set in their industry and are looking to progress in the same career path. As long as they are convinced that you are not looking to switch industries again and there's a decent career progression for past couple of years, I feel you don't have anything to worry about.

Good luck and please keep us posted..
