Peaches Computer: SoftCore`s new digital music player was introduced to compete with our popular iPit player, which is sold in a distinctive anodized pink aluminum case. SoftCore uses a similar anodized metal case. It is very likely that many customers, therefore, intending to buy one of our iPit players will accidentally buy one of SoftCore`s players instead.
SoftCore: Untrue. The two players can be distinguished easily because the LCD on our player lights up red but the LCD on theirs has green backlighting.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously undermines the reasoning in SoftCore`s response?
(A) The red LCD is the background color on many of the devices made by SoftCore.
(B) When the players are viewed side by side, SoftCore`s case is perceptibly taller and thicker than the case on Peaches Computer player.
(C) SoftCore, unlike Peaches Computer, displays its LCD screens prominently in all of its advertisements.
(D) Impulse purchasers commonly buy digital music players based on the general appearance of the players・cases in store displays.
(E) Many popular players are sold in similarly designed cases.

D
althought the word impulseannoys me. One must find a reason why purchasers are not focusing their attention primarily on the LCD displays. If the focus primarily on general appearance this undermines the reasoning of Softcore.

Clear D!
One trick with CR is try to come up with your own answer before looking at the choices. I thought about the LED colors. Wouldn't I need to open it up and turn it on if I were going to be able to distinguish between the two?
Now if I am an impulse buyer, I'm just going to go with the one based on how it looks. If they look the same, I may pick one or the other.
