Haha. Thank you for the tip. It helped in eliminating an answer choice. If only GMAT does that on the exam with certain questions :)

On a serious note, no issues. Thank you for editing.

I chose D. Need something that completes 'The National Geographic Society's electronic database'. Only D logically completes the statement.

Re: The National Geographic Society's electronic database, available free [#permalink]
The National Geographic Society's electronic database, available free of cost to researchers affiliated with government think-tanks or university study centers, originally stored in microfiche sheets that were manually accessed through the Society's free access facilities, but is now accessible through remote data access services.
A) centers, originally stored in microfiche sheets that were manually accessed through the Society's free access facilities, but is -
A fragmented sentence since verb for the subject "Database" is missing. Hence Incorrect.

B) centers, while it had originally been stored in microfiche sheets that were manually accessed through the Society's free access facilities,
Grossly Incorrect.

C) centers stored originally in microfiche sheets that were manually accessed through the Society's free access facilities
A fragmented sentence since verb for the subject "Database" is missing. Placement of STORED changes the original intent & logically incorrect since the option now conveys that Study centers were stored in microfiche sheets.. "But" should be used in the end to maintain contradiction. Hence Incorrect.

D) centers, was originally stored in microfiche sheets manually accessed through the Society's free access facilities but is
CORRECT

E) centers stored originally in microfiche sheets that were manually accessed through the Society's free access facilities but is

A) But is a FANBOYS connector. An IC should follow 'but'
B) Past Perfect Tense is incorrect
C) It incorrectly suggests that the centers were stored in microfiche sheets
E) Repeats same error as C

I will go with D
