Rhyme I would love your take on retaking the GMATPrep tests and scoring higher - do you think it is inflated because of repetition?

Howd you know I'd see this?

I cant say the same is true for you but in my case....

If I see a math problem once, the odds of me remembering it are slim. If I see a verbal problem, I'll recognize it a year later and might even be able to tell you what choice I picked last time without reading the answer choices.

So, in my case, retaking the GMATPrep more than twice was just fine for math (I rarely hit a question I remembered), but for verbal, I recognized a ton... I was therefore very very worried that my verbal scores were inflated - I was getting 44-47 consistently.

In my case, the GMATPrep did NOT inflate my scores - my real performance matched up with my GMATPrep performances. My best math score on GMATPrep was a 48, my normal range was 45-47. I scored a 45 in the real exam. My GMATPrep verbals ranged from 44-47, I scored a 45 on the verbal.

But... thats just me... I really dont know how much it affects you... how many times do you recognize the problems?

You're scoring pretty consistently, so I'd say it's on par.

Identify your weaknesses and attack them as much as possible. Something is still holding you back from increasing your score, so dig deep. If it's not happening on your own, then I'd look at getting a tutor or taking a prep class.

I was supposed to retake on the 14th of June and I have pushed it back to the 26th.

My weaknesses right now are DS on the math and SC on the verbal. Otherwise I feel I am pretty solid in PS, CR, and RC.

The DS is just taking a little more time and being careful - the SC I need to improve on big time.

I bought the manhattan book - should be here today. I am going to hit that this week, still doing math problems in the meantime to try to squeeze a little improvement and keep the practice going. I will also be taking a few more pratice tests to keep my timing up.

I like the PR tests because it is all new questions and it forces you to think on every single one. I am a little too comfortable with OG and GMATPrep right now but I do agree with you Rhyme - I dont remember that many questions on the math section - maybe 1 or 2 and a lot of times I dont remember the answer so I have to work through it regardless. The verbal is another story - i do see some SC I have seen before and some CR - but I am not worried about those, I have seen improvement in my score there and stayed consistent with the math. I just need to get a little more and I will hit the 700 mark and be done with this quest.
