Ace GMAT in one month dedicated study [#permalink]
Hi Nalin and Rich

Thanks. I know it very well could have been an amazing journey.

I gave my gmat and it resuled in a score of 590 that I cancelled out of disappointment from myself.

I dont know if i am willing to sustain the pain required to ace the gmat according to the dreams i have. I just didnt study enough, just couldnt devote myself enough, didnt push myself to compelete even the basics.

I dont know if all i have about gmat is a false image, a dream, a fantasy, a false promise to myself. Days, weeks and months passed by...and now they are turning into years and still i am nowhere near the targets i set for myself.

Hopefully, there will be a day soon when there is no looking back and 700+ is a reality.

Thanks

Manhattan GMAT books should be sufficient for Quant and Sentence Corrections. For Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension, sounds like GMAT Pill is pretty good. For practice questions, Official Guide, Verbal Review, and Quant Review. Practice exams, GMATPrep.

Using any materials beyond these will only distract you.

Hi sheldoncooper,

Since your original posts were back in mid-February, and now you're posting 3.5 months later, there are certainly some questions about the studying you've done during that time. You've admitted to NOT properly learning the 'basics' and not pushing yourself very hard, so both of those issues almost certainly played a role in your earning a 590 on Test Day.

1) What was your study routine? Did it change once your new job started? How many hours did you study during a typical week?
2) What practice materials did you use?
3) How did you score on each of your practice CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
4) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on the Official GMAT?

While feeling disappointed with this score result is understandable, you have to remember that the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam - so you CAN train to score at a higher level. One of the 'keys' though is that you have to commit to the process; from what you describe, it doesn't sound like you fully did.

So, continuing a post from my 1st GMATclub post in 2016. Thanks to the forum, experts and the community at large. This has been my one-stop solution for all queries related MBA & GMAT.

Gave 2nd attempt at GMAT yesterday. Scored - 660 - Q46 / V35. I don't consider it to be top notch but will go ahead with few Canadian B school applications with this score.

Hi sheldoncooper,

A 660/Q46 is a solid Score - and it's a really nice improvement over your prior 590! By extension, it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. Are you planning to apply to School sometime soon (re: Round 2)? If you are, then you might find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Rich, can't thank you enough for your personalised message, earlier in the days and this time around. Much appreciated.

Yes, I am applying to the schools in the present last round still accepting Canadians - Smith's, Ivey, JMSB. I believe I have unique professional experiences within my job and beyond my 9-5 workplace that'll bring me apart from the rest of the applicant pool. Finding it difficult to articulate the best things in the most impactful way. I have gone through posts but guess it will immensely benefit me to have a short personalised discussion with an expert.

Stay Safe !
