Price of the bag that Bianca bought = 0.4*4000 = 1600
Bianca then sold it at 1600*1.25 = 2000

Hence, Bianca profit = 2000-1600 = 400

Since Bianca buys the bag at 60% discount when compared to the American price,
the price of the bag, when bought in Italy is 1600$

We have been asked to compute the profit that she makes in a bag,
which is 25% of the price of the bag(in Italy) which is \(\frac{1}{4}\)*1600 = 400(Option A)

Note: We must assume that the question is asking about a single bag.

Since Bianca sold a bag that would have cost $4,000 in American stores, she actually paid 0.4 x 4,000 = $1,600 for the bag. She then sold the bag for 1.25 x 1600 = $2,000. Thus, she made a profit of $400.

CP of Bianca is 40% of $4,000 = $1,600
Profit of Bianca is 25% of $1,600 = $400, Answer must be (A)

$4000*0.60=$2400.
Therefore cost price of Gucci bags purchased in Italy by Bianca= $4000-2400= $1600.
She sells the bags at 25% higher than what she bought= $1600*1.25= $2000.
Therefore, the profit= $2000 - $1600= $400.

The OA is A
