GmatPrep was easier to me for some reason. Perhaps I was more relaxed. but I have to say that many of the questions are so familiar. I noticed many similar quesitons from OG.

i really REALLY hope that is the case when i take the GMAT. :-D

I think GMATPrep1 was a bit harder and GMATPrep 2 was a bit easier than the real test. Very hard to tell with these CAT tests though because the bin questions you get throughout the test depend on a number of different variables. Overall though, I believe your real GMAT score will usually be within 20-30 pts of the average of your two GMATPrep exams.

GMATPrep also has a similar number of experimental questions.

I thought the actual GMAT was easier than GMATPrep, but that just might be because by the time I took the actual test I was all too familiar with whatever that was being thrown at me. I did however do a bit worse on the quant as compared to both my GMATPrep scaled scores and bit better on the verbal.

I also think a 20-30 point range around your GMATPrep average is a pretty reliable predictor of your test day performance.

Overall I think both are very very similar. It's uncanny how your real score turns out to be the same as the score on GMAT prep. I scored 770 on both even though i made slightly more silly mistakes in the quant on the real thing viz a viz the practise GMAT Prep.

Well, prior to writing GMATPrep, I was scoring 760-790 on GMP.

On test day, I scored a 750. Keep in mind I got wasted the night before, and slept <2 hours. Fell asleep during verbal, rushed last 7 questions. I was expecting a sub-700.

I'd have to say the real GMAT is way easier. :-)

The V was about the same for both for me, but the Q on the real test was MUCH harder....or so it seemed to me....

They are comparable in terms of questions. I think actual test "seems" to be harder than practice test is because of pressure and testing center (well its not as comfortable as home for sure) . I would say difference is in the mind and attitude.

I think the Q is harder because of all the unscored Quant questions thrown in. If it seems way too hard then it may very well be a sample question.

Re: GMAT vs. GMATPrep [#permalink]
Guys, same issue but a bit different.

Need ur advice. I did both Kaplan and Manhattan prep tests.

Kaplan i get around 710 (51q, 34V).

and Manhattan - (45Q, 34V).

Which one is more accurate? am i rly that off in the quant? 45??!? that bad?!??

If these are my scores - should i go to the test or should i postpone it?

my aim is 700. not below.

ill b happy to know what u guys think.

thanks.

Re: GMAT vs. GMATPrep [#permalink]
Things have definately changed. GMAC has definately become more clever in disguising questions. I took the exam in 2009 and then 2010 and 2011. All i can say is that my first score was the best and most balanced and i hardly prepped much.

I prepped much more including taking a class and private tutoring and still could not perform as well as i did the first time around. My personal opinion but i know there are folks out there who feel the same way as i do
