i narrowed down my choice to D & E. & i think D is the correct answer. But i was quite tempted to pick E.
Reason why i thought E to be rite answer - i thought "complicating" should be parallel to "including lung cancer and emphysema". But then later i thought "complicating pregnancy" is not related to lung cancer. So fianally i was convinced that D is the rite answer.

Did anyone else thought of E to be the rite answer. It would be really nice if everyone also post what choices did they narrow down to & the rite answer.

for eg - D vs E & then selected D

For all SC questions, I like to make sure that the sentence makes logical sense.

D as stated seems grammatically correct, but logically flawed.

D indicates that the pregnancy is complicated by increased risks in low birth weight.

cause : increased risk
effect : complicated pregnancy

Dont you think that the cause and effect should be reversed for the sentence to make sense logically.

I mean, shouldn't the sentence mean that the pregnancy is complicated and hence the risk of low birth weight was increased.

Don't get me wrong. I think D is the correct answer, but couldn't help wondering...

What is the problem with C... I found it allright... and its logically correct as well. Whats OA?

the problem with C is that "increasing" is a verb & cannot be precedded/joined by a comma i.e " , ".
Verb should be joined by a conjuction rather than comma. For eg choice D has "and" as conjunction.

Amardeep, I think C is incorrect because a conjunction(and)is missing.
