What is the answer for the additional question?

Official Explanation

Based upon the linear model, a salary comparable to that paid to Alex Rodriguez in 2001 would be expected in approximately ____________.

(A) 2002
(B) 2005
(C) 2009
(D) 2011
(E) 2020

Explanation

Use the slope of the dotted line to estimate when it will reach the $22 million territory of Rodriguez’s salary. That will require an increase in salary of about $7 million beyond the last visible point on the line (2002). Based on the slope, it will take approximately 9 years to increase another $7 million, so it will get there around 2011.

Answer: D

thank you , but something is wrong in my side...i'm getting 7 as slope value and ot getting 2011 as the answer. May you kindly elaborate a bit more please...

Sajjad1994 Hey! Can you post the answers of: Q1 and Q2?
Official Explanation

1. The possible outlier in this sample is the salary paid to ____________.

(A) Nolan Ryan
(B) Bobby Bonilla
(C) Darryl Strawberry
(D) Gary Sheffield
(E) Alex Rodriguez

Explanation

The point representing the salary paid to Alex Rodriguez in 2000 falls dramatically outside the pattern of the linear model and is even significantly higher than what would be predicted by the exponential model. Do not spend time on calculating the formal definition of outlier.

Answer: E

Sajjad1994 Hey! Can you post the answers of: Q1 and Q2?
Official Explanation

2. The linear model would predict salaries higher than those actually negotiated for ____________ of the players in this sample.

(A) None
(B) 3
(C) 5
(D) 7
(E) 8

Explanation

Keep your focus on the dotted line. If the linear model predicts a higher-than-actual salary, the point representing the actual salary will fall below the line, so count the points below the line. A total of eight players (Jim Rice, Ozzie Smith, Orel Hershiser, Robin Yount, Darryl Strawberry, Bobby Bonilla, Cecil Fielder, and Albert Belle) fall below the line, which is pulled upward by the salary for Alex Rodriguez.

Hi Sajjad1994
but even Gary Sheffield seems to be an outlier here. Are we supposed to pick one which is the furthest away? Question stated "possible" outlier.

You are right! Both are possible outliers, but if we have to pick only one of these two, who will we choose? definitely Alex Rodriguez.
