Leader of Consequence essay is definitely i think the most difficult and unique essay question I've faced. but I really like the introspection it requires in context of what the 'typical' business school essay seems to aim at.

Question though for those applying and/or familiar with the program. I really would like to do GATE and also an international exchange program. By my calculation, I could if i did, GATE in the spring and international exhcange in the Fall. Is t his common though? and does it appear if i am overextending myself?

I would like to study at Tsinghua in the Fall, and then do GATE (preferablly on the latin american region) in Spring.

So? Reactions?

It sounds a little like Fuqua is trying to become a school for leadership writ broadly, not simply for future bankers/consultants. Just a shot.

Can anyone help me?

I have a reasonable amount of community service in a not for profit org.How can I spin that my community service experience will enable me to contribute to my peers at b-school?

Thanks

I am using more abstract language from my experiences on what i can contribute. rather than focus on my professional experience, where i think the contributions i can make are more obvious, im describing more of my qualities, demonstrated by several accomplishments, which i can contribute to my fuqua peers.

maybe i am way wrong on doing this. but i didnt want to focus on my 'skills' persay. i wanted to focus on my 'attitude' and 'personal qualities'.

There is a place to upload the transcripts under the Educational Background section.

For Duke's Essay 4, are we supposed to talk about only (health and security matters, environmental impact questions, and diversity and cultural concerns) issues mentioned in the question?

For Security, does the Information Security comes in this category? My impression is since Health and Secuirty is mentioned, we need to talk about only the worker health and safety.

If i am not exposed to these kind of issues in work place can i talk about other issues such as Information Security, privacy etc?

Any thoughts?

I think that question is VERY open ended. The examples given are just that, examples.

How I took the question was as follows: "Leaders of impact deals with problems that are bigger than just business. They deal with problems that have impact in areas such as security, health, etc, etc. What will YOU do as a leader of impact that extends beyond just business?"

In other words, it's an extension of your post-MBA career goals. You say you want to be a consultant? Well, why? What do you want to accomplish as a consultant? What are you passionate about?

But isn't that going to repeat the goals essay?

Hi AAU

Can you elaborate on Duke's 6week term program? So in 6 weeks, you take midterms and finals and get done with a course?? How many classes to people take and how long are each class? It sounds like Duke's gonna make people study 24/7.

It shouldn't.

Let me give you an example. My goals essay said I wanted to become an "x". My leader of consequence essay focused on a major problem in my industry that I wanted to solve.

No overlap at all.

I'm talking about how I'll be a "LOC" in various different settings (my org, community, field in general) and what impact I want to have in each one.
