MIT Chat today at Accepted.com

I attended this chat for the first 25 - 30 minutes and it kind of seemed worthless. The moderator asked people not to ask questions such as "What are my chances?" and guess what the first question was? "What are my chances?" followed by a not-so-brief description of himself. If people can't follow the rules in a simple chat, do they think they belong at MIT Sloan? Wake up people!

I then asked "Can you comment on the weight given to the GMAT score? I realize a good score is necessary, but once an applicant gets a score comparable to the published information, how important is that GMAT score then?"

The response was more bland than vanilla pudding. "The scores are important; however, there are other areas that we focus on throughout the application. The numbers are just 1 portion of the data we used to review the application."

That is not responsive to my question. It doesn't state anything as to the weight and consideration of a range of GMAT scores.

Oh well. It seems pointless to have these chats when very little information is actually conveyed. At least useful information.
