I mean if the question says the horses are tethered at 4 corners of side 70 feet
then how did u get 35......

"so that they just cannot reach one another"
I take this to mean that the tether plus their reach would be slightly less than half the length of the field(or else they could touch each other if they walked along the side of the field).
