Another set of questions, this one regarding the interview:
. was the interview arranged through an online system?
. was it possible to select different locations (eg: campus vs home)?
. was the scheduling flexible? I read somewhere that one has 10 days to schedule the interview; I also wonder what is the latest it could be scheduled for.
I'm located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I travel extensively, and have a hectic schedule. So I don't know if for me it would be best to have the interview in Buenos Aires, or in Stanford, or maybe in New York. This is not a minor issue.
If I'm in the wrong thread, please do let me know.
1) No. You receive an email with the contact info of the local alum that will be interviewing you.
2) No. The vast majority of interviews are done by alumni around the world. Some people will interview with admissions officers on campus, but it seems like that's mostly for locals, and still a minority of them. Either way, you don't have a choice here.
3) Last year it was 2 weeks.. though i've also heard that this year it's 10 days. You also get contact info for the person to sets up all the interviews and you can work with her to find mutually agreeable solution. If you're traveling a lot, it could be possible to conduct the interview in a remote location... but in all likelihood it'll be in buenos aires.
