I am a little freaked out though...I live in NY, so it would be very easy to have an alum meet with me...but instead they want me to come ON CAMPUS to meet with an admission officer, in person. They are giving me a month to make the trip. Seems unusual, doesn't it?

I would assume that there's a pretty decent history of NY-based applicants choosing HBS over Stanford. They probably want to test your commitment to Stanford and the West Coast (especially if you get invited to interview at HBS also).

Please add me to the list

Applied R2 on Jan 6
A few odds against me, but have to keep hope alive.

F/30/gmat below 700/gpa: 3.8/WE:8 yrs

Applied to HBS as well. HAAS and Wharton R3. Might retake the gmat.

Thanks, MBABelle. This gives me some hope...

Also, just my $.02(so not worth much) on the on-campus interview but I think it is an awesome opportunity! I think alums add too much of their own "flair" and opinions to the interview process. The adcom will be much more straight-forward and i think will carry more weight

Glad to be an inspiration! :)

And I agree...I am excited for the opportunity to make my case to the Adcom, but also nervous because the interview will carry much more weight.

Does anyone know the rationale behind Stanford's "trickle" approach to releasing interview invites? Or is there actually a "flood" of invites out there right now that I am just not aware of?

I could be wrong, but i feel lo-pro and mystery are part of the brand and a way to differentiate the school from louder business factories like HBS.

To be honest, also being from New York I hope they have me interview on campus as well - I have to check the place out in person anyway and the fact I had to interview in addition to getting a feel for the place would make the trip (and $$$ spent) that much easier to handle!

Hmm, I've never heard of this before. It's gotta be good right? For them to offer an interview on campus is awesome.

Is this typically how Stanford does it every year? Interviews are just rollling, and you have no clue where you stand until you either hear of an interview or get a ding?

Does the math also indicate that if you get an interview, then you basically have a 50% chance of getting in? I feel like I had concluded this a while back, but seem to be losing the plot right now. This wait is just unbearable, to be honest.

Thanks.
