mTORC, I wouldn't look into it in such a manner. Truth be told, Stanford invites are never as frequent on a single day basis as other schools (at least in what I've seen in past threads).
Got my interview invite for R2 today... wish me luck!

Congrats Marie!! When did your status change from "submitted" to "under review"? Just trying to figure out how long it takes them to send out an invite once they start reviewing an application!
1st. count me in for R2 2nd. goodluck to everybody! 3rd. I am officially nervous. A buddy applied in R1, was called shortly a week or two after submission... he's in. The rest who were interviewed later... dinged, (one wait-listed)...

Last year I received an interview invitation only a couple weeks into the process and I got waitlisted. My buddy who got his invitation weeks later got in. You guys need to stop extrapolating out of so little data.
What happens if there's no Stanford alum near you? I'm in Vietnam and haven't found any here yet--and I've been asking around. Would they make you fly to a different country to do the interview? With visas and booking international flights and what not, I'm not sure if I could get the interview done within 10 days.
If there aren't any alum near you, they'll work with you to find a solution. Either by traveling to a alum nearby (i'm sure that if you can't arrange travel within 10 days, they'll give you some leniency) or, worst case, by scheduling a phone interview.
you'll be fine.
