Clear (D). Inbreeding keeps the seals from developing resistances to certain bacteria/viruses that could eventually kill off the species.

D is the only choice that explains why other species with their genetic variation are able to explain how other species are better equiped to survive.

After that zoo/aquarium KAKASHKA, this one turned out to be quite simple. I was almost inclined to ask Stolyar if he had a nasty series of HIGH OCTANE Kakashka CR's :)
