It's in the Netherlands, right? Is the application process closer to the UK or American style? I mean research topic/proposal, etc.?

The main difference is that they take PhDs to particular projects. And one needs to provide motivation/proposal etc. on his interest in the project.

Then it will be easier for you. Just justify the motivational part and write the proporal in line with their project.

Good luck!!! :-D

applying to U.K. programs [#permalink]
I am still in the stage of researching the programs to narrow down my list. My current list is Univ. of Manchester, Warwick, Lancaster Univ., Aston, Bradford. Being extremely naive, I thought that I could write my proposal during spring break. After spending a very frustrating week reviewing articles, I am no further along.

I am trying to decide if I should just write a proposal that I beleive would be accepted, or if I should stick to my guns and find something acceptable AND that I will enjoy. My new target is the end of April.

Good luck to everyone.

I know a person with PhD from Australian school. Admission to the PhD programs in UK seems very similar to the ones in Australia. Admission to the Programs in the US look easier since hardly any require proposal prior to starting the program.
