Question regarding internship and reimbursement

From what I understand some consulting firms and IB's will pay for your second year of b-school (tuition) if they offer you a full-time position when you exit your summer internship. Can anyone confirm which companies actually do this? In addition, do any firms offer tuition reimbursement? I tried searching but perhaps I was using the wrong phrases.

Not sure about internships but if you held a position with them prior to matriculation some companies take the cost of your MBA or a fraction for a guarantee of working with them for like 1-2 years post MBA. I know that isn't super relevant to what you asked but I thought I'd say it anyway :)

To my knowledge from resume books and conversation with alumni, some consulting firms offer existing employees the fellowship program to earn company sponsored full time MBA. But it must be approved list of top 10 BSchools, McKinsey, Boston CG, Bain and Booz do it. From the industry: GE, l'Oreal and some oil MNCs. Some government departments from countries such as Japan, Singapore sponsor their officials.

I heard from a person who interned with a big 4 accounting firm that she was offered job and firm paid 2nd year tuition. Some other blue chip offered student to work part-time in 2nd year and salary contributed to tuition.

Thanks, that's what I was referring to. Doing a summer internship then firm picking up second year of tuition and/or keeping you on part-time during the second year. I understand they may ask for a 2-year post-grad employment agreement.

It varies not only by firms, MBA programs but also timing. Alumni from dotcom boom era told me that it was more widely during the era of 'war for talent' to see 2nd year reimbursement or signing bonus. Nowadays, most summer interns are really delighted to receive a job offer upon graduation and see this as pure success, don't mention 2nd year reimbursement.

But it is easier to ask to work part-time in 2nd year for obvious reasons. concentration, more practice to work in firm, function. Firm and school need to be in the same city to make commute work.
