Columbia Announces 2018-2019 Deadlines!!
Columbia Business School has announced its 2018-2019 admissions deadlines! All deadlines are at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Please remember that Columbia’s full-time MBA admissions process is a rolling process, therefore you can submit an application for the January-start and August-start programs soon after the new application is online. The admissions committee will begin allocating seats to successful applicants from the beginning of the rolling cycle (which starts once the new application is online). The longer you wait to submit your application, the more seats will be allocated already to other applicants. Therefore, the closer you wait to the final deadlines, the lower your odds will be for admission. By the final deadlines, the class may essentially be “full”, making it hard for even highly qualified applicants to gain admission. So, think about mobilizing your application sooner rather than later!
Here are the deadlines:
August 2019-Start Full-time MBA Program Early: Oct 3, 2018 Merit Fellowship Deadline: Jan 4, 2019 Final: Apr 10, 2019
January 2019-Start Full-time MBA Program Deadline: Oct 3, 2018

Hi Shelly,
I am an investment management professional working in Emerging Markets (India + Middle East) but focused on investing in US assets. I am looking forward to apply to Columbia as I want to transition to investment management hubs such as New York. I do not intend to alter my current industry or function post MBA.
I need your advice on choosing September entry vs J term. I have heard from a CBS alum that competition may be less intense for J-term and it may suit my profile as I am not seeking a major career change. However, I also want to seek your thoughts on the same. Besides, kindly note that I will need sponsorship to work in NY - how extra hard does it get for J-term candidates who are looking for a sponsorship?
