While I more or less agree to that, it is not uncommon for HBS to reject candidates with 780/790+ GMAT scores. International experience helps as long as one is able to craft a compelling essay - I would go as far as saying it is the make or break, especially since Harvard has only one, open ended essay.

Hey there,

I would say DO NOT GIVE UP!

For schools like Harvard and most other top schools, GMAT is just a number. I am sure you bring much more than just a test score. So it would be interesting to see if there were other elements in your profile you could improve other than the GMAT. Having said that, make sure you are within +- 30 points of the median GMAT score of your target school.
