Number of boys --> 18
Number of girls --> 22

No of right handed students --> 24

Minimum of boys that are right handed is 18/40 * 24 which equals 10.8 and since there can't be 0.8 boys, the minimum no is 10

Re: There are 40 students in a classroom, 9/20 of students are boys and 4/ [#permalink]
Total students = 40

Boys = (9/20)*40 = 18

So, Girls = 40 - 18 = 22

Right-handed = (4/5)*40 = 32

In order for the number of right-handed boys to be minimum, the number of right-handed girls needs to be maximum and that is possible if all of the 22 girls in the classroom are right-handed.
In that case, the remaining (32 - 22) = 10 right-handed students will be the minimum number of boys.

Hence, option (A).
