Unlike other species of the same family, which travel above the ground level by swinging from branches and vines, the Tyruvian flying monkey has a skin membrane connecting its limbs that allows it to glide from tree to tree. Based on the fact that the chief predator feeding on monkeys in Tyruvian jungles, the striped panther, cannot climb trees, researchers have hypothesized that the flying monkey population is continuously increasing in numbers while the populations of other species remain stable.

The researchers' conclusion relies on which of the following assumptions?

(A) The striped panther, being the most powerful of the Tyruvian jungle inhabitants, has extremely developed hindleg muscles which allow it to leap to a great height, although it rarely can reach the altitudes of the flying monkey's habitat.

(B) The Tyruvian flying monkey's webbed limbs allow downward parachuting or even horizontal gliding but are not designed to enable it to soar upwards when fleeing from earthbound predators.

(C) As opposed to some of the other species in its family that cannot avoid descending to the ground from time to time, the Tyruvian flying monkey subsists mostly on food sources that grow high above ground level and abundantly enough to sustain any number of such animals.

(D) While the striped panther is too heavy or large-bodied to be able to safely climb trees around the habitats of Tyruvian flying monkeys, there are other predators who may prey on such monkeys.

(E) Having skin between its limbs does not make the Tyruvian monkey any less nimble while leaping from tree to tree, but it does affect its ability to maneuver on the ground and climb trees quick enough so as to elude predators.

A) The striped panther, being the most powerful of the Tyruvian jungle inhabitants, has extremely developed hindleg muscles which allow it to leap to a great height, although it rarely can reach the altitudes of the flying monkey's habitat.
B) The Tyruvian flying monkey's webbed limbs allow downward parachuting or even horizontal gliding but are not designed to enable it to soar upwards when fleeing from earthbound predators.
C) As opposed to some of the other species in its family that cannot avoid descending to the ground from time to time, the Tyruvian flying monkey subsists mostly on food sources that grow high above ground level and abundantly enough to sustain any number of such animals.
D) While the striped panther is too heavy or large-bodied to be able to safely climb trees around the habitats of Tyruvian flying monkeys, there are other predators who may prey on such monkeys.
E) Having skin between its limbs does not make the Tyruvian monkey any less nimble while leaping from tree to tree, but it does affect its ability to maneuver on the ground and climb trees quick enough so as to elude predators.

After the first read, we can eliminate B, D and E easily.

B: It implies that the mokeys cannot outrun the earthbound predators, hence wrong.
D: This implies that there are other predators present, hence the population should not increase. Wrong
E: It implies that the mokeys cannot outrun the earthbound predators, hence wrong.

Now on to A, C
C addresses the cause directly by saying that the monkeys do not have to come down and the premise says that the panther cannot climb trees, hence the population is flourishing.
