Man, I think you guys persuaded me to apply to Kellogg.

As for Cornell, it is my back up and I have a good friend who is an alumni so I almost feel obligated to apply. Not sure yet though. I'm kicking around Darden or UNC instead because of MC placements.

Thanks for the insights,

I dont know if I ever said this... but hats off to all of you. You are way way way ahead of the game for the fall 08 season. You should all be proud of yourselves for starting so early.

Rhyme,

Are you saying that all of us are locks to get into HBS because we started so early? I'm going to hold you to that!

lol! :-D good one! You guys can count me in as one of the guys interested in M/C. I still havent finalized on my schools. I'm in the process of doing it. I need to give my TOEFL too. Can any Indian here give me some TOEFL advice (books, prep material and the like)? I really don't wanna spend too much time on that. I'd rather spend that time researching universities and finding the right program for me. So................ :help2 solicited...

My schooling was in English and I do have a pretty good verbal score in the GMAT. I thought of asking for a TOEFL waiver. But then I heard this horror :horror story where a guy (whose schooling was in English) asked for a TOEFL waiver at Kellog, but was not granted one. He simply didnt have enough time to prepare and then give the TOEFL before the round closed. I don't want ANYTHING like that hapenning to me. I already have the IT thing working against me and I don't want to give the Adcom guys any other excuse to ding me! :toilet

I agree with Kripal on this. Giving the TOEFL will probably be less work than asking for exemptions university by university. Give the TOEFL and get that out of the way.
Though personally I think that the TOEFL is nothing more than a money spinning machine. I wonder if ETS pays universities any money to keep the TOEFL bus going.

I think I mentioned this before, but I really do recommend getting a book. While Rhyme's pdf will totally rock and will be about the experiences of people you know on this forum(if he drag himself away from doing nothing at work for long enough to get it done  ), there are others who have gone before us and written entire books about the application experience.

I used Montauk's "Getting Into Top Business Schools," and I know others on this forum have used other books. I can't imagine having done this without that resource.
