Hi all,
I took the test on 03 September 2013 and had a nice result of 690 (Q49, V35). This score is not perfect one (i.e. 700 or above) but it have satisfied me already. Why? I can say that it let me know I could be better than I’d thought. And I would like to share this wonderful experience with you all and hope it help.
- Book & material used: OG13, GMAT Ultimate Grammar Book of GMAT Club (pdf version), posts in GMAT Club, Economist GMAT Tutor, Wikipedia.
--
OG 13 is my Main resource, I did each section (i.e. Quant & Verbal) twice and
carefully reviewed the explanations for keys of each questions. GMAT Club is where I take some really tough questions (700+). I searched Wikipedia for definition and properties of arithmetic sequence, which were not in
OG 13. I also took a glance at GMAT Ultimate Grammar Book of GMAT. One day before the test I tried some fee section on Economist GMAT Tutor.
- Test scores received: GMAT Prep: 530 (Q42, V22)-580 (Q48, V24) – reset - 680 (Q50, V31) - 700 (Q51, V34); Economist GMAT Tutor: 620 (Q48; V26).
- Length of study: I started learning on 18 June 2013. I spent 2-3 hours a day on GMAT (01 hour in the morning and 02 hours in the evening). To be honest, it took me a great effort to adhere to the daily learning as I was still working.
- Things I have learned: For those who don’t learn math in English it’s very important to be familiar with the mathematical definitions and properties in English. In fact, at first I used several tricks to remember mathematical definitions in English. For examples, to determine what are the odd numbers and even numbers, my trick is that the “odd” has three letters so it represents the numbers indivisible by 2 and the “even” has four letters so it represents the numbers divisible by 2.
- My test day: I spent the evening before the test day on relaxing and telling fortune with my girl friend. On the test day, I arrived the test center 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment. I brought along a bottle of water, some snacks and a banana. My AWA and IR were not good so I took the break and fed myself the banana to fuel may brain before the Quant section :D. After finishing the Quant section, I took the break and did the Verbal section without drinking or eating anything. However, I find that’s wrong later at last 30 minutes of Verbal sections I felt hungry and could not concentrate on the questions and I chose the answer on my instinctively
. So it is essential to feed yourself well during the test.
The above is my experience on GMAT. I hope that it’s useful for your preparation of your GMAT.
