No, I am not a citizen. But my girlfriend is and she travelled with us without any problems.

The Cuban immigrations does not stamp your passport. They issue a tourist card.

if you want something less posh - go to Dominicana. Been there last May with my wife and we both loved it. The white beaches lined with coconut palms were gorgeous.

It is also an interesting place from a historical point of view. Consider visiting the very first city of the New World, standing on the baclony of governors mansion overlooking the very first square of the New World, walking along the very first street of the New World, visiting the maucoleum of Columbus (also some people would argue that the remains of Columbus are authentic).They also have some very nice diving sites for the beginners.

There were also quite some Eurpean couples getting married right there on the beach!

Well then how does she get back in to the country? I thought that was a serious offense, apparently not?

we flew from Cuba to Bahamas and then to the US.

FYI: Visiting cuba is not an offense, since that would be curbing your freedom. However, spending US Govermnet issued currency is an offense. Thats how US limits its citizens going to Cuba.

We went on our honeymoon last fall. We ruled out the Pacific islands due to travel time, as well as Europe. Since it was hurricane season we chose Mexico, and were really happy with Cabo San Lucas. There are probably better places out there to see, but we loved it. Every day we went into town for dinner and never got sick. Each day we enjoyed perfect weather, and were able to scuba dive, deep sea fish, or do just about any other activity for reasonable prices.

I did not know that either. I thought you were not allowed to buy anything, which is a different issue. Can you use credit cards? I want to go to Cuba!

Credit Cards issued by American Banks dont work. Cards from any other country should work.

We took care of our expensed in two ways, all the big expenses (hotel bills mainly) were pre booked by a traveling agency in Canada, which will accept American cards! (Since the agency is based in Canada)

For everything else, I converted Dollars to Euros BEFORE I reached cuba. There is a 10% fees of converting dollars in cuba and hence it can get pricy. Its Fidel's way of sticking it back to the Bush family.

I know its sounds complicated, but I really think its worth it. I am thinking of making another trip this april/may (once I am in).
