I know a lot of people who rave about Puerto Rico, but I have not been there myself (yet). There is definitely a night life there and a lot of great culture. I would guess that PR is at least somewhat touristy but not like Hawaii or the Bahamas.

I would actually stay away from PR. It's a bit "ghetto" compared with other honeymoon destinations.

How about Bora Bora, before it gets too touristy -- or is that too late?

Wow, it is amazing I had never heard of some of these places. And if you guys have already been there I am officially jealous. Any more suggestions are welcome, but the ones that have been offered already are outstanding! Thanks.

Tanzania and Zanzibar are gorgeous. Santorini is spectacular - in fact, all of greece is. Most famous probably for all the white houses, but it's not a quiet place.

But I say.... You go to Fiji.

Not sure about honeymoons, but in a couple weeks I'll be spending some time here with my girlfriend.

I am going on my honeymoon come early June. Just wanted some suggestions other than the normal Bahamas, Hawaii etc. Looking for more of a remote, tranquil location with a night life but nothing too crazy, not too touristy. Any suggestions would be great!

Tahiti -- A long flight from NYC ( 12 hrs ) but damn good!!..been there in Sep 2006...awesome

Oh lest not forget the Maldives

https://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/M ... d/index.do

And this place is great too, check it out

https://www.huvafenfushi.com/

Oh and Wakatobi is awesome though its really hard to get out there

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakatobi
https://www.wakatobi.com/homepage.html

And to go back to fiji for a moment, a few more options

https://www.maravu.net/
https://www.beqalagoonresort.com/ (they need more pics)

But lets not forget amankila, one of the best resorts in the world if you dont mind spend a ton

https://www.amankila.com/kila/res.htm

If you want to do something totally different, check out

https://www.abercrombiekent.com/index.cf ... Pwod1Unb0A

In particular, with June timeframes look at the ngorongoro crater area (thats east africa). You want to hit up the Masai Mara area, and if you can swing the dough, stay at the ngorongoro crater lodge: https://ngorongorocrater.com/

(no that photo on the right is not photoshopped. it actually looks like that)

I could keep going... there are so many places in the world to visit.

wow... some of these places look so amazing! We just did the boring, safe route and went to Hawaii for our honeymoon.

I personally have never used this site, but I've heard others rave about it:

I've never been to Hawaii, but I can't imagine it ever being a boring/safe route. Besides, once you make the big bucks, you can fly all over the world for second, third ... 20th honeymoons!

True - I only meant in comparison to some of these amazing destinations suggested! But we didn't just lie on the beach all day. We went to the Big Island, so we went to Volcanoes National Park and we did a tour up to the observatories on Mauna Kea (that's what I get for marrying an astrophysicist! :P )

This is probably not your conventional location, but you might want to consider Cuba.

I know, I know, we are not allowed to go there. Not really. I went there last summer with (family trip) and had an amazing time.

I spent a couple of days in Nassau and then took a flight to Havana (real Russian air plane, with Russian signs and everything!).

Havana was everything they said it was an them some! Coming from Bahamas, the biggest difference I felt was that there was no American music! Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Hip-Hop, but to hear live Cuban music in almost all restaurants that we went too, was an excellent experience.

After spending 4 days in Havana, we went to this ultra exclusive, tourist only, island strip called Varadero. Its a 2 hr drive and you can rent or take a bus. Beautiful, all inclusive resorts. From huge buffet tables to exclusive steak dinners. Everything is included in the price, even the drinks.

Getting package tours from Canada is very popular, so you might want to consider that option as well.

As I said, a bit unconventional, but definitely worth the little trouble you have to go through.

Enjoy!
