(A) conditions on Mars helping
The verb+ing without comma is modifying Mars , the statement therefore means that Mars is helping scientists determine whether life ever existed there
--incorrect

(B) conditions on Mars, with information helping
with means alongside , the statement means gathering observations alongside helping determine whether life ever existed there
The construction is awkward and the sentence can be constructed in a better way.
--incorrect

(C) conditions on Mars that help
The essential modifier that is modifying Mars , essentially saying the same thing as A
--incorrect

(D) conditions on Mars, information that will help
Conveys the correct meaning that the information will help...
--Correct

(E) conditions on Mars, those that helped
What does "those" is referring to
moreover the past "helped" is incorrect
--incorrect

+1 for D

the noun+noun modifier rightly modifies the preceding clause.

Official Explanation:

Answer - D
Concepts tested: Modifiers

A - Semantic error – the sentence implies that the territory and conditions on Mars can themselves help scientists determine whether life ever existed there. The observations about these are what will help scientists determine whether life ever existed there.
B - The use of ‘with’ is incorrect as it tampers with the meaning – not clear that the information that will help scientists is the information about territory and conditions on Mars.
C – Same as A
D – This option uses the right modifier and gives the right sense.
E - Tense mismatch – there is a shift from present to past; additionally, it is not clear what the antecedent of ‘those’ is – it can refer to ‘conditions’, ‘territory and conditions’, or ‘observations’. Thus, D is the right answer.
