That is right, suffer from is idiomatioc, however:
a. that creatures of the seabed were suffering from dwindling food supplies, possibly resulting from increasing - this part looks wrong to me.

a. that creatures of the seabed were suffering from dwindling food supplies, possibly resulting from increasing This part looks wrong to me, to me use of ing and ing - is incorrect. So it should be either possibly resulted from increasing or possibly resulting from increase
