AWA: insufficient ideas?

AWA: insufficient ideas? [#permalink] New post   17 Jun 2009, 22:29
Hi guys,

I find that everytime I practised AWA in a full length test, I could not find 3 solid ideas to back my position for the analysis of issues. What should I do when that happens? I don't have this problem for analysis of arguments because I just have to follow and critique the line of argument in the paragraph.

Hence, I need advice specific to buffing up the content and not to the template because I had already read the structure guide on another thread.

PS: My GMAT is tomorrow :shock:

WOW - you should be sleeping NOW :lol:

Good luck on the test tomorrow. If you can't find 3 solid ideas - find 3 poor/bad ideas - content and logic are not really important - it is about how you present them. Don't worry about it at all - it will come itself. I could not find good ideas either - just made stuff up - got 6.0.

Wow great score there :-D

But wouldn't the essay be marked down for unconvincing ideas, especially when the human marker reads it?

I'll be doing 2 more GPrep tests later on :wink:

For the sake of GMAT - ideas and their quality do not matter. What matters is that you sound convincing and not crazy.
One reason is that it is extremely hard to evaluate ideas. For example, what is a 4.0 idea and what is a 4.5 idea?

AWA score does not matter really - don't worry about it. Just spend a few minutes doing an outline and come up with some points and the rest will come itself.

Good luck - don't overdo it.
