Calling all Berkeley-Haas Fall 2009 Applicants

Kryzak I haven't received an interview invite till now [I have applied in round 1]. Should i call em up ? I know its of no use but still !

As long as you have a confirmation that they received your application, calling them will not help. There is still a chance of either getting a very late interview invite or be waitlisted and interviewed with the Round 2 pool. Keep your hopes up!

I have one problem though. My current supervisor is refusing to give me any recommendation because the project I am leading is a high priority one and is bringing in new clients to the company.

I can take a recommendation from my former supervisor with whom I had worked earlier.

Will this affect my app?

as long as both your recommendations is from supervisors or clients or people who can evaluate you (NOT peers or subordinates) well, you're fine. You will need to comment on why you didn't pick your current supervisor, but that should be fine.

Going to use some vaycay to visit Haas in February. Really looking forward to getting on campus!!

FYI for others looking to do class visits, the HSA said the registration for visits will go online around Jan 30th.

My application status still shows "invited to interview". Does anyone else's? I'm really hoping my interviewer submitted his feedback!

No Interview for me in R1...Its a ding !! Damn...It sucks to be an international candidate !!

This may sound like throwing the towel before the fight but I am having grave doubts about whether I should apply full time to Haas at all. I mean the competition is so intense.

My profile has 1 big negative (age 34) and other parts are ok not so great. EC's are minimal...don't know how much EC's matter to Haas. What matters most to Haas, anyways?

Back to my point, chances are better for the Part Time program, aren't they?

age is not a big negative for Haas. There are quite a few classmates who are over 34 in the class (probably more than many other larger schools). Of course, it's what you've done in your 12 years of WE that matters a lot. ECs are great to show leadership, teamwork, and your involvement with things other than work, but is not necessary. There really is no answer to "what matters most to Haas?", it really is dependent on each candidate.

Part time is less selective based on the numbers, but I don't know enough about that program to make a judgement on if it's "easier" or not.

Anyone know if Haas calls the admits the day before decisions come out or if they just send out the final notifications via email/online status check? Just need to know if I should hyperventilate the 27th if I don't get a phone call . . .

last year they called me a day before the deadline...

I have jury duty the 27th & phones have to be off, so I am going to be a nervous wreck the entire day! OMG I am getting nervous just thinking about how nervous I am going to be!
