I see your point but I don't think they would give you the option to write the essay if they were not somewhat interested. Maybe they look at this essay as another admissions evaluation as well as for the scholarship....take a more positive approach.

Apparently everyone's too busy writing their essay to bother with posting on here...hahaha. I was just wondering if anyone else finds it slightly annoying that they make us write this essay without even knowing if they are actually interested in admitting us? I mean, my application isn't even under review. They could take one look at it and say, yeah right, and yet I still have to write this essay for this fellowship that I might have no shot at whatsoever. Anyone with me on this or am I alone?

I agree.

You also arent eligible until you enroll. I think in past years, they used it as bait for the top applicants, but maybe they had too many leave in favor of Harvard or Stanford, and that's why they changed it.

I can't see how it impacts your candidacy. Maybe if you didn't write it.

There are a lot of strange things with Cornell. Any of you schedule a class visit? Didn't you find it strange how you had to reply to the email to indicate which information session you wanted to attend? On the application form, there were bubbles that let me fill in which class time to pick. They easily could've let me pick an info session on that same screen.

One thing's for sure. Your Parker essay better be on par with the other 2.

Wow. You guys are fast.

I got it too. I wonder if it's almost mandatory to be accepted into the school.

no, not at all. if you don't do the park essay, then you're just not in the running for the park.

my advice - do it! it's such a sweet deal, and one more little essay won't kill ya. Don't count yourself out - there's no mold for the people they're looking for. it's always worht a shot.

Quick question:

Quote:
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
Number supervised * :
Hours
Week :
Month :

I'm applying for Round 2. Anyone has any idea for this point? What does it mean by "Number supervised" and "Hours, week, month"?

How many people you supervised?

And how many hours you work per week? Month?

Anything new from Cornell. I see that Cornell might beat CBS record for longest wait in letting me know what happened to my application...

I think R2 apps are about to start. Anyone got any invites?

Thanks gmatclb. Simply enough but I didn't get.

It's one week for R2 deadline...

Cornell only has 2 400-word essays? Is this like the shortest essay set or what?? Or am I totally missing something?

On one hand its cool cuz its super easy to write (how much time did you guys spend on Cornell app btw?)...on the other hand you don't get enough opportunities to portray a picture of your strengths and uniqueness..

Crazy....

Any day now, I bet somebody will post that they got admitted.

Last year, decisions rolled out in the middle of November. This year, some interview invites went out last week. So people either interviewed last week or will interview this week. I've read some reports that people were admitted 1 day after completing their interview.

I haven't read much on interview invites. I think there are 2 here and none over at BW forums.

Hey All,

I had my interview at Cornell this morning - it was a great experience. Very conversational. The best bit of advice that I can offer is to just know your story. The majority of Cornell's interviews are blind, so be prepared to talk about yourself and be able to clearly articulate the important things like why MBA, why now and why Cornell.

Regarding the invites: apparently only a handful of people have been invited for an interview at this point (it's pretty impressive for two of them to be GMATClubbers.) Definitely don't be discouraged if you haven't heard anything yet because most people haven't. I'm sure there will be a lot of action during the next couple weeks.

Congrats. Do you live near Cornell? That was fast. You must've scheduled it quick.

Where there lots of applicants in the admissions office who also had interviews?

Yeah I should mention that I have the advantage of already being a grad student at Cornell so I didn't have to worry about getting a day off from work and setting up travel here for my interview.

When I was at Sage I did see a couple other people who were there to interview, but the majority of non-Johnson people were just visiting.
