Is anyone applying to the MMM program at kellogg ? I checked the details of the program online and I think it a good fit for me. However, I see that Kellogg only accepts 60 students into MMM. I am wondering if applying to the MMM program instead of the MBA program would lessen my chances of getting admitted to kellogg.

Riverripper, any thoughts ?

Big difference between the TOEFL email and the transcript change on your online status. I would hold off tell your boss he/she sucks until you get a call or your status changes to something about official transcripts. TOEFL emails dont have the same correlation to admit as some of the other signs.

Its actually slightly easier to get into the MMM than regular MBA (slightly). However, if you do straight MBA its possible to switch into the MMM if there are still spaces. I know a few people who did that this year since there were still slots available in the program.

Sorry about the Kellogg ding. I was actually just looking at INSEAD's website yesterday for the first time. Looks like a blast. I'm sure you will get a lot out of it. Hope things go well with the gf.

Hello All!

Any older candidates been admitted yet?

RJ

I applied R1, interview October, and still have the same old status. (740 Gmat, military academy, great W/E, owned a business, work in non-profit, blah blah blah)

Just to swich topics a bit, does anyone know if Kellogg has any case style classes or are they mostly lecture based classes. How important is class participation to grades/learning? I am trying to determine my fit with the teaching style.

bscraker, the first essay is different, also the course requirements for graduation are different, they are many more required electives aimed at manufactring, supply chain, and design and other business/engineering functions. You also take classes together with other MMM students as one section. I think it's a great program for people who want to work for an engineering firm as a general manager. You recieve an Masters of Engineering Managment degree too. A lot fewer hot babes though from their class profile :(

Kellogg is a very balanced program. Some classes are case based, some are lecture based, some are interactive lectures, some are experiential learning. Participation is usually 10-20% of a grade (some classes its zero like accounting) but that 10-20% can definitely move you from an A to a B or visa versa.

Personally I like the balance.

Guys,

About an hour ago I got the status unknown update of death...

Now to my complete shock I just received an email from admissions about a status update stating "Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management MBA Two-Year Class of 2011."

I am in disbelief. Has anyone been notified by email and not gotten a call. I live in Houston. Why would they not call. If this is a prank, someone is very, very, very mean!

And my status says I have been rejected. Both the letter in my status and in my email are from Beth Flye, Assistant Dean, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.

This could be the ultimate stomach punch of my entire life.
