Found this on another board. Clearly averaging the rankings has its flaws (HBS #4!?), but its somewhat helpful to have them all on the same page...

October 2006 (or most recent) issue:
What the seven numbers after each school correspond to:

1) Consensus ranking of major business school rankings
2) Economist Intelligence Unit (US schools only)
3) Business Week
4) Wall Street Journal
5) U.S. News & World Report
6) Financial Times (US schools only)
7) Forbes

----

1) Wharton (U Penn) 1 12 2 6 3 1 2
2) Chicago 2 3 1 11 6 5 3
3) Tuck (Dartmouth) 3 1 11 2 9 7 1
4) HBS (Harvard) 4 5 4 14 1 2 7
5) Stanford 5 2 6 18 2 3 6
6) Columbia 6 9 10 4 7 4 4
7) Kellogg (Northwestern) 7 4 3 6 4 12 10
8) Haas (Berkeley) 8 8 8 5 7 11 15
9) Ross (U Michigan) 9 6 5 1 11 10 26
10) Sloan (MIT) 10 13 7 10 4 8 18
11) Stern (NYU) 11 6 14 17 13 6 13
12) Yale SOM 12 15 19 9 15 9 5
13) Darden (UVA) 12 9 15 13 13 14 8
14) Anderson (UCLA) 14 11 12 19 10 13 14
15) Fuqua (Duke) 15 19 9 12 11 15 20
16) Johnson (Cornell) 16 14 13 16 16 19 9
17) Tepper (CMU) 17 18 16 3 16 24 16
18) Kenan-Flagler (UNC) 18 23 17 8 20 16 14

Tuck always seems to do great in rankings. I guess their one major drawback is their remote location. Probably great for academic endeavors, but more of a challenge for business where it's nice to be connected to a major business center.

I agree that any ranking that doesn't have Harvard and Stanford at the top needs a little work. All-in-all not too many surprises. Ultra-elites occupy 6 of the top 7 slots in this aggregation. Pretty much fits with the idea that Tuck, Haas and Ross are closest to making a move up.

Hey! I think either Hjort or rhyme or both prepared sth like this before. If I remember correctly they called them Metarankings or average rankings! So maybe that other forum has been ripping from us! (or actually, the idea of averaging ranking is not that unique).

Cheers. L.
