"Complete the argument" questions have increased from prior exams. Though this question format masks the true underlying CR question type. With complete the argument, you might actually have any of the following: strengthen, weaken or inference.
Your job is to figure out what you're being asked to do -- this is the beauty of the "complete the argument" question. It's not as simple to identify. Most of the time, "complete the argument" questions are "strengthen" question types. Usually, it's a keyword ", since ______" -- then your job is to find some statement to support the conclusion that is stated in the passage.
For these questions, look for an answer choice that is relevant. This is key, usually it's the case that more than half of the answer choices are not relevant.
Then, see whether the rationale is important. If the phrasing is "clearly, therefore...." -- this suggests that the fill-in-the-blank portion has something to do with the sentence prior to the word "clearly". So you'll want to elaborate on that specific rationale -- having that in mind can help you sort through the answer choices at a faster rate. Try some of the
"complete the argument" questions on this list.
