This is % change question.

Original speed (at the beginning) = 40

New speed (at the end) = 70

Difference = 70 - 40 = 30

% Change = Difference/Original = (30/40)*100 = 75 %

Since difference is +ve (or new speed > original speed), its increase.

Ans: (C) increased by 75%

Let’s determine the percentage increase of the speed of the train:

(70 - 40)/40 = 30/40 = 3/4 x 100 = 75%

Answer: C
