Solution
Given:
- • Each boy does exactly 2 units of work per day
• Each girl does exactly 3 units of work per day
To find:
- • Can 4 boys and 3 girls finish the total work within 6 days?
Approach and Working:
As each boy does 2 units of work per day,
- • In 1 day, 4 boys will do 4 * 2 = 8 units of work
Similarly, as each girl does 3 units of work per day,
- • In 1 day, 3 girls will do 3 * 3 = 9 units of work
Therefore, the total work done by 4 boys and 3 girls in 1 day = 8 + 9 = 17 units
So, in 6 days, they will do = 17 * 6 = 102 units of work
Analysing Statement 1
- • As per the information given in statement 1, the total work is more than 80 units
• As it is more than 80, it can be more than or equal or less than 102 units
- o Depending on whether it is more or equal or less, the work may or may not be completed
Hence, statement 1 is not sufficient
Analysing Statement 2
- • As per the information given in statement 1, the total work is less than 100 units
• As the group can complete 102 units of work in 6 days, they will definitely complete the work within time
Hence, statement 2 is sufficient to answer
Hence, the correct answer is option B.
