Re: Emails received through GMASS search [#permalink]
before u click delete on all of them, read them carefully, some of those e-mails can be worth a lot.
some schools will send u application fee waivers.
even if you don't want to go to that school, you can possibly use it as a "practice" application.
it's probably a bit unethical (since you're lowering the chances of other serious applicants), but just a thought.

good point RMaven, however i can't imagine many applicants putting their recommenders through a practice application.

Not to mention it's a lot of effort to write extra essays...

or it could be a good opportunity to learn about a program that you never really thought about for whatever reason.

For example, I received a invite to a Duke info-session the other day and chose to attend, even though I never seriously considered it before. Turns out they have a similar culture (by description) to some of the schools I'm most drawn to (i.e. Ross). I still hold some reservations on a personal level (location, lack of focus in Energy), but was pretty intrigued by the other aspects.

great point!

I wish there was a way though that I could opt out of certain emails - for instance, I'm not too interested in the Rollins MBA and get weekly emails from there. Wish I could select to opt out of those ones!

That's exactly what happened to me with Cornell. I went to a dinner/cocktail hour and met some alums and admissions folks. Ended up kick starting some research on the program....then I didn't get an interview invite so now I'm sure all my other aps are doomed.

Re: Emails received through GMASS search [#permalink]
I'm receiving way too many of those. Many US schools even though I'm not applying there, including one application fee waiver from a school I'd never heard of before.

Btw, I didn't know that after taking the whole GMAT I was supposed to be able to remember what my GPA was 6-7 years ago. What I put there is guaranteed to be wrong, do you guys think it would be a problem?

Re: Emails received through GMASS search [#permalink]
During first two month after my GMAT I was getting a lot of those emails – and from the US schools too, even though I indicated that I’m going to study in Europe/UK. Some even sent me very nice printed materials.

But I was very sad that both of my R1 schools sent me nothing… except from the remainder that the application date is approaching.

Now the flow of emails has almost stopped; but I still receive one or two occasionally.

I don't think that the wrong GPA will be a problem; btw, they have ranges for the GPA (if I remember correctly), and don't require the exact figure.
