EMBA: Waitlisted Then Dinged – What Are Odds as Reapplicant? It is always hard for a candidate when they are placed on a waitlist for their dream EMBA program and ultimately denied admission. To get so close yet not be admitted is difficult.
The good news is that the admissions committee recognized great potential in your candidacy. While receiving a rejection is discouraging, we at MBAAdmit.com have helped many EMBA candidates who have come to us after applying on their own and receiving waitlist and rejection letters; most later achieved admission to the same school with a well-honed reapplication. For admissions committee members, your willingness to try a second time is an excellent sign of your commitment and how much you want to attend their school. They note your dedication, which can weigh positively in your favor.
As you reapply, however, it is crucial that you assess the reasons why you did not gain admission. What were the main areas of weakness?
Your chances of admission should not be hurt because you are a reapplicant if you fix whatever the main problems were. Sometimes the admissions committee is willing to give you some feedback. If they do, you should carefully consider the input and take proactive measures to improve your credentials or application. You should also take steps to have your application assessed by a professional with abundant experience with EMBA admissions, so you are fully aware of the ways you should improve your candidacy and application.
If you fix the main problems, the admissions committee will look at your application with fresh eyes.
So, were your essays poorly written? Take proactive steps to ensure you present the highest quality of essays in your second application. They should focus on ideal content, presenting your strengths, credentials, achievements, and future goals in compelling ways.
Was one of your recommendations weak? Secure a glowing, in-depth letter of recommendation from a superior. The impact can be significant.
Was your EA score too low? Then either get your score higher or show quant proficiency through some other metric.
If you applied to a top EMBA program and received waitlist and rejection letters, recognize that we at MBAAdmit.com know from experience that it is often possible to secure admission to the same school as soon as the year after a rejection. Key has been our work in helping reapplying candidates transform their essays and recommendations into outstanding application elements and address any other notable weaknesses in their candidacies. So, don’t give up prematurely. Assess your application and consider whether you should apply again.
