I am looking to take the GMAT in the coming weeks, and I am looking to improve my score just a tad.

I have been averaging around a 660 overall with Q: ~45 and V: ~35 putting me just under the 80th percentile mark.

McCombs would be my dream school, and I am currently a rising senior in the Mechanical Engineering Honors program at UT. I feel like I need to get up at or at least near the 700 mark to feel good about my application. I have been working in IT for the university for over a year now, but obviously lack any formidable work experience. I have good on-campus leadership experience, extracurriculars, as well as a compelling backstory which I figure will help my case to an extent.

Any tips on studying for these next couple weeks to try to get to that "magical" 700 mark? Also, while this may be in the wrong thread, any tips on where I should apply or a reference on how to find the right school to apply to?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also, regarding your 2nd question travisarnold:

There is a tool created by the GMAT Club founder bb called 'What Are My Chances - Evaluate Your Profile!'

Link is: https://gmatclub.com/forum/what-are-my- ... 09854.html

I would suggest using the same to get some preliminary ideas.

Hi travisarnold,

To start, since you're asking a number of Admissions-related questions, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.

There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
