Hello All!

I've been sifting through this forum for the past 2 months in preparation for my GMAT. I took the Kaplan Classroom course (just completed last week), and am now almost ready to take the test. My study schedule has been about 2 hours each weekday (due to work), then about 4 hours each on Sat and Sunday for the past 2.5 months. Kaplan does give some great strategies and I feel pretty much prepared for the test, but after reading this forum, it seems as though the great majority feel that Kaplan isn't the best suited for maximizing points on the GMAT.

I also have the OG11 and 3 paper tests that you buy from GMAC, but I have only taken practice tests using the Kaplan CATs. My scores fluctuate quite a bit, but for the past 3 tests, I've improved. My plan for this last week is to go over some more concepts and finish all the OG11 problems. I will then focus on my strengths (Quantitative and SC). I will also take the 2 GMATpreps (one this weekend and one the day before the test) If I have more time I will take the powerpreps. Any comments/suggestions?

Kaplan Score recap:
Diag: 600
CAT 1: 690 Q52, V30
CAT 2: 580 Q37, V29
CAT 3: 680 Q51, V29
CAT 4: 600 Q40, v28
CAT 5: 610 Q41, V31
CAT 6: 660 Q45, V34
CAT 7: 710 Q44, V49

Note: I am a native English speaker. My main weaknesses seem to be RC and CR. On Quant, it would probably be Comb/Perm.

UPDATE: GMATprep score: 690
CAT 8: 720
GMATprep 2: taking tomorrow day before test...

Update. I just took the first GMATprep practice test and scored 690. Is there anyway to view my score again? I don't remember how I did on a scaled score and want to look at it again.

Also, are there explanations to the questions I got wrong? Thanks guys!

Don't second-guess yourself about the course. It sounds like it helped you a great deal, so don't worry about it. Most of the negative comments about Kaplan re: GMAT prep are about their practice tests...too difficult and questions not like the real thing, especially for verbal. If you want more practice do the Princeton Review tests. They're adaptive and they also have answer explanations.

I just did my Kaplan CAT 1 on the CD Companion of Kaplan 2007 Premier.

My Math is 50.
My Verbal is also 30, same as yours.

My final score is 590! 100 less than your first CAT. How can this be possible?
2 points difference in Math gives me 100 less than yours?

My 590 is also exactly 100 less than my first PR CAT. Well, I do admit that Kaplan Verbal is extremely difficult, esp. the RC.

You must believe in yourself, yes the scores give you an indication, but YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU CAN DO THIS, I KNOW YOU CAN! You have the dedication and the drive, you can do this!

hey guys,

just want to note my updates:

Last Kaplan CAT 8: 720
GMATprep 2: 710

TEST is tomorrow!! wish me luck...i actually studied for about 4 hours today and my test is tomorrow..now its time to watch some tv and relax before the test
