AWA Score: 5.5 out of 6

I have used a GMAT AWA auto-grader to evaluate your essay.

Coherence and connectivity: 5/5
This rating corresponds to the flow of ideas and expressions from one paragraph to another. The effective use of connectives and coherence of assertive language in arguing for/against the argument is analyzed. This is deemed as one of the most important parameters.

Paragraph structure and formation: 3.5/5
The structure and division of the attempt into appropriate paragraphs are evaluated. To score well on this parameter, it is important to organize the attempt into paragraphs. Preferable to follow the convention of leaving a line blank at the end of each paragraph, to make the software aware of the structure of the essay.

Vocabulary and word expression: 4/5
This parameter rates the submitted essay on the range of relevant vocabulary possessed by the candidate basis the word and expression usage. There are no extra- points for bombastic word usage. Simple is the best form of suave!

Good Luck

Hey guys, can you help me evaluate the passage that I have written?

The argument claims that introduction of interactive computer instruction in three academic subjects two years ago in Nova High School has led to decrease in school dropout rate immediately and is responsible for last year’s graduates’ impressive achievements in college. Hence, in future budgets, the school board should use a greater portion of the available funds to buy more computers, and all schools in the district should adopt interactive computer instruction throughout the curriculum. Stated in this way, the argument fails to mention several key factors on basis of which It could be evaluated. The conclusion of the argument relies upon assumptions for which there is no clear evidence hence the argument is rather weak and unconvincing.
First, the argument readily assumes that the interactive computer instructions in three academic subjects are responsible for impressive achievements in college. This statement is a stretch and is not substantiated in any way. The computer instructions were introduced in only three academic subjects and the argument fails to mention in which subjects have the students had impressive achievements in college. There could be subjects other than the ones included in the computer interactive sessions in which students have been able to perform well. There is no data point available to claim this. Moreover, impressive achievements in college are not restricted to academia. There are various other fields such as singing, dancing, sports etc in which students could have performed exceptionally well and these have nothing to do with the computer interactive sessions introduced in high school program which mainly are targeted towards academics. Hence this claim is more of a wishful thinking and is not substantiated in any manner.
Second, the argument also assumes that the decrease in the rate of dropout of students from high school is also because of the introduction of interactive computer instructions. This again is a wishful assumption. We have not been provided the reasons as to why the kids were dropping out of high school in the first place. There could be other external factors like economic depression because of which the kids had to drop out from school in-order to take up jobs and support their family financially.
Third, even if we assume that it was the computer interactive instructions that were responsible for decrease in dropout rates and impressive achievements of recent graduates in college, we cannot claim that kids from other high schools will be able to follow the same path if such interactive sessions are introduced in their high school. Other high school might be offering a better curriculum to the kids already and kids might find it better suitable for themselves. We do not have information as to how good or bad are the kids from other high schools performing as compared to kids in Nova high school. We do not know the reason behind the introduction of such interactive computer instructions in Nova high school. One cannot generalize the achievement of one program for all the other schools.
In conclusion, the argument is rather flawed and unconvincing. It could be considerably strengthened if the author clearly mentioned all the relevant facts. In-order to assess the merit of a certain situation, it is essential to have full knowledge of all the contributing factors.
