Hi everyone,

I just had a GMAT Test today and I failed miserably. I am aiming for a score between 550 - 600 because that's all I need to be accepted to the business school I'm applying for.
However, I scored a 320. In particular my quantitative was very bad. Is there any way I could get my score up within a month? Does anyone have tips and tricks for me? I've done quite a lot of self-studying for about 3 months. I'm off work, so I can devote all my time to studying this coming month.

Would really appreciate your help.

Hi SJ,

With your score goal, you'll have to raise your Official Score 230+ points. While that might seem like a difficult task, it IS achievable at this 'level.' However, you'll likely need another 2-3 months of consistent, guided study time - so 1 month is likely not going to be enough (even if you can study a lot during that time).

Before I can offer you any additional advice on how best to proceed, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
4) On the GMAT, did you have to 'rush' to finish any of the sections? Did you leave any questions unanswered?

Goals:
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

What was your Quant/Verbal split?

For a 250 point increase, you need to ensure that your basics are in place. I suggest you to first check out your high school Math book to review the relevant topics and then go through the entire curriculum of a test prep company. This should help you give the required jump. And yes, you might need to put in 2 to 3 months of consistent effort.

Hi Saarj,

You score suggest a clear lack o understanding of fundamentals. To increase your score, you need to build your concepts first and then start practicing questions.
You need to build the concepts/fundamentals before you jump in solving the problems. You can do so by choosing one of the following ways:
1. In person classes/private tutoring
2. Online classes
3. Self paced online preparatory course
4. Book heavy approach

Hi Saarj,

It looks like you need a study plan that you can stick to. Here is a customized one month study plan that can help boost your score: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... study-plan

Use this as a guideline. You don’t have to follow it exactly but the structure of the study plan should be the same structure that you take in your approach. This helps to optimize your retention and learning.

As you study, we recommend that you focus on one particular subsection for multiple consecutive days before moving onto the next. You can see this in our study plan where we recommend 5 days on nothing but SC -- before moving onto CR and then RC.
