We are told that $812 are 116% of Bills monthly salary. We can derive the following equation:

\(812=1.16 * S\). We de solve for S and get Bill's current salary $700.

We add 10% and get $770. Answer C.

If Bills salary increased by 16% his salary would be $812 which 116% of his salary

His original salary = 812 / 116 * 100 = $700

If he got 10% increase then his Salary would be 700 + 700*.1 = 770

Answer = C. $770

Salary without 16% increase \(= \frac{812*100}{116} = 700\)

Salary with 10% increase = 700+70 = 770

OFFICIAL SOLUTION:

(C) If Bill’s salary increased by 16% he would earn $812. Algebraically, this can be written as:
$812 = 1.16S, where S is his current salary.
Then S = $812/1.16 = $700.

Now that we know his current salary is $700, we can calculate what his salary would be if it were increased by 10%. We know that 10% of $700 is $70, so his salary would be:
$700 + $70 = $770.

The correct answer is choice (C).

(100/116)*812=700
With 10℅ increase - 700+70=770

Answer choice is C
