r is the remainder when 18 is divided by n. n could be : 3 to 17 . inclusive.

Statement 1: n>12. no. of values of n yield different remainders. NOT sufficient.

Statement 2: $$n = 2^m$$ . n could be = 4 , 8 , 16. In all case remainder is 2. Sufficient.

Question: what is the value of r ?

Statement 1: n > 12
if n = 13, r = 5
if n = 14, r = 4
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: n = 2^m, where m is a positive integer.
if n = 4, r = 2
if n = 8, r = 2
if n = 16, r = 2
ie. remainder is always consistent value equal to 2 for any number n which is 2^m where m > 1
SUFFICIENT
